COVID Training Programs

As per directives of Dr  Kajal Mitra, Dean NKPSIMS & RC and LMH, under the leadership of HOD General Medicine Dr Nalini Humaney and under the guidance of Dr Anjali Bhure, HOD Anaesthesiology,  ‘COVID19 training ‘ was initiated for Junior Residents of all clinical, paraclinical and preclinical departments and nursing staff from 20 th April  2020. This training was conducted along the line of  iGOT courses on  Diksha platform. 10 sessions comprising of 30 participants each were undertaken. Faculties from PSM , Microbiology, General Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Anaesthesiology contributed in training . Epidemiology and prevention, Lab diagnosis, Clinical Manifestations, Clinical management and Oxygen therapy and ventilation were discussed by faculties from these departments . Theory lectures were followed by hands on training on O2 therapy and demonstration of Doffing and Donning of personal protective equipment. During the sessions norms of physical distancing was strictly followed. COVID19 training will also be undertaken for all teaching faculties, nursing staff and interns.
In addition to this ongoing training, between 27 April to 1 st May, 5 days Training of PHC doctors and ANM staff was also undertaken. This was as per directives of DDHS. In this training 3 days theory classes were conducted and 2 days hands on training ( in MICU and OT )related to Monitoring, O2 therapy , invasive and non-invasive ventilation, use of infusion pump and syringe pump etc was given. Apart from above mentioned depts, faculties from paediatrics Dept also contributed in hands on training of PHC candidates. The idea behind all these training sessions was to prepare all Health Care Workers to deal with COVID19 pandemic.
